Purchases and Payments
-
You can calculate the cost for editing your document using our Pricing page.
Occasionally, after an initial review of your work, we may need to request payment of an additional fee. This typically happens if your document requires more effort to edit than anticipated or if an upgrade to the chosen service is necessary. Should this occur, a payment link will be sent to you via email.
Full payment is required before we begin editing your document, unless a different arrangement has been agreed upon.
Once the editing is complete, documents will be returned to you electronically. We do not post hard copies.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the correct details are provided when placing your order. Entering an incorrect email address or phone number can cause unnecessary delays. We cannot be held accountable for such errors.
Proofers accepts payments through Stripe and PayPal. Stripe allows you to use all major credit and debit cards for your convenience. Once your order has been successfully processed, you will receive a confirmation email.
If you encounter any issues with Stripe or PayPal, we also offer the option to pay via BACS. Please note that if you choose to pay using BACS, the payment must clear before we can return the edited documents. Proofers cannot be held responsible for any delays caused by bank processing times.
Corrections, Extensions and Refunds
-
Proofers operates with a straightforward policy regarding delivery, extensions, and refunds.
If you are unhappy with the edited work, you must contact our team at enquiries@proofers.co.uk as soon as possible, explaining the reasons for your dissatisfaction. One of our editors will review your concerns to assess whether our set guidelines have been met.
Should we determine that further corrections are necessary, we will make the appropriate adjustments. If you are still unsatisfied after these corrections, we may offer additional revisions to your document(s).
In rare cases, where your requirements cannot be met or further revisions are not possible, we may offer a partial or full refund. Refunds are processed within 24 hours, although it may take up to 5 days for the funds to appear in your account.
Duplicate orders will be cancelled and refunded within 24 hours. Overpayments will also be refunded within 24 hours.
At Proofers, we strive to deliver work within the agreed timeframe. However, there are occasions when we may need to extend the deadline to ensure the quality of the editing is not degraded. Typically, such extensions are necessary when:
- Customer requirements need further clarification.
- The customer has failed to provide supporting documentation.
If an extension is required, then one of our team members will contact you via email to inform you of the delay. In instances where a delay is due to Proofers’ own issues, such as IT problems or staff sickness, we will do our utmost to resolve the issue promptly and we will ensure that you are notified as soon as possible.
Right to Refuse Work
-
Proofers reserves the right to refuse or decline any orders placed.
If an order is declined, the customer will be contacted, and a full refund will be issued.
Common reasons for declining an order may include the customer selecting an incorrect service. For instance, if a customer orders a proofreading service but the document requires copy editing, which involves a more detailed level of editing, we would contact the customer to offer the option to either upgrade the service or cancel the order.
Additionally, we may choose to decline an order if we feel that there is little value we can add to the editing. In such cases, a full refund will be issued.
Confidentiality
-
At Proofers, we are committed to maintaining confidentiality.
We understand that our editors have access to unpublished material, so we limit access to your information to only authorised employees who require it to carry out their job responsibilities.
To protect your work, we have implemented several measures, including requiring all employees to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Proofers guarantees that none of your order details will be knowingly disclosed to any third parties, except to those directly involved in editing your document(s).
Like most organisations, we recognise that online communications carry risks. Our editors use third-party software such as Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Office 365, and Gmail. While these platforms are considered secure, Proofers cannot be held responsible for any security breaches that may occur with these services.
All documents are removed from our servers four weeks after the order has been placed. Additionally, documents are deleted from any local repositories after the same four-week period.
We recommend reviewing our Privacy Policy alongside these Terms and Conditions.
Governing Law
